Job Vacancies At West African Ventures Company For The Positions Of (Chief) Engineer And Master Vessel/ Captain In Nigeria

West African Ventures (WAV), established in 2000, is a 100% Nigerian company and a leading indigenous provider of offshore engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, vessel charter and other support services in the oil/gas industry. 
In addition WAV operates a multifunctional fabrication yard and oilfield supply base at Onne Oil & Gas Free Zone Nigeria, providing its customers a wide range of construction, fabrication and maintenance services. WAV also operates dry-dock facilities at Onne and Warri to maintain its offshore marine support fleet and its inland fleet.
As part of WAV's growth and repositioning strategy, experience professionals are required in the following positions in Marine division of its business.


Vessel Master / Captain
AHTS / Utility Fleet


The Master has the overall authority and responsibility for the operations of the vessel with due regard for the safety and the protection of it's crew and the environment.
The Master is a 100% professional with hands on, in depth experience in all facets of Offshore operations (Anchor Handling, Towing / Rig Moves, Supply...). Besides excellent boat handling skills, the Master has the management skills to train, coach and maintain his deck, engineering and bridge crew to the standard of Sea Trucks Group, and their own potential.
The Master maintains pro-actively all communication lines with both client and base / office management.

Responsibilities:

  • Overall management, planning, organization and control of all vessel activities;
  • Operational excellence and display of Seamanship;
  • Implement / maintain the Company's policies (Operations, Safety, HR, Management System...);
  • Ensure the vessel complies with Flag State, Classification Society and Local Rules and Regulations at all times;
  • Safe navigation of the vessel whilst in transit, on location and berthing and un-berthing in port;
  • Maintain the Ship Security Plan and ensure compliance with the ISPS Code.


Requirements:

  • Fluent in verbal / written English;
  • Fully licensed Master of Vessel Unlimited in accordance with STCW 95;
  • DP Certified, where applicable;
  • Valid Medical Certificate;
  • Training and up to date certification in accordance with STCW 95 and Flag State Regulations;
  • Genuine, proven and documented Offshore Seamanship.

Chief Engineer

AHTS / Utility Fleet

The Chief Engineer is head of the engineering department and has authority over all engineering and planned maintenance.
The Chief Engineer is a 100% professional with hands on, in depth experience in all operational and technical aspects of Offshore operations (Winch handling, cargo, liquids and bulk handling, Maintenance and engineering,
troubleshooting, ...). Besides excellent technical skills, the Chief Engineer has the management skills to train, coach and maintain his engineering crew to the standards of Sea Trucks Group, and to their own potential.
The Chief Engineer maintains pro-actively all communication lines with superintendents and the Technical Management.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the efficient, safe running and maintenance of the mechanical, electrical and ancillary equipment and deck machinery on board the vessel;
  • Operational excellence and display of Seamanship;
  • Ensure that the Planned Maintenance System is properly maintained and reported. This includes inventories on board, Maintenance and Breakdowns, and the maintenance of Technical Manuals, Tools and Instructions;
  • Ensure all certification is in date;
  • Assist the vessel's Master in preparing dry dock specification and work scopes;
  • Assist the vessel's Master to implement and maintain the Company's policies and Safety Management System;
  • Ensure that all Engine Room Watch keeping duties are fulfilled.


Requirements:

  • Fluent in verbal / written English;
  • Fully licensed Chief Engineer III/2 in accordance with STCW 95;
  • Valid Medical Certificate;
  • Training and up to date certification in accordance with STCW 95 and Flag State Regulations;
  • Genuine, proven and documented Offshore Seamanship.

REQUIREMENTS


·        Test, assemble, disassemble and perform visual inspection of mechanical assemblies.
·        Assist in reworking, repairing and modifying non-conforming equipment.
·        Compliance with HS&E policies and procedures.
·        Replace expendable parts, gaskets, seals, lines, fittings, etc.
·        May pick up equipment at the rig site.
·        Test or refit equipment off the shelf. Perform administrative and inventory work as required.

Position: Internal Audit Officer

The Officer shall report to the Internal Audit Manager

The Candidate for this position shall possess the following:

Minimum of a Good First Degree or H.N.D.
Professional financial qualification(s) would be an advantage, i.e ACA, ACCA, CPA, CISA.
Approximately 3-5 years experience in the internal audit department of a well structured E&P Company or Multinational.
Previous work experience in a well structured Oil Company will be an advantage.
Good understanding of business processes/system of control.
Conversant with the use of SAP Accounting Package, especially with SAP Account Payable and Payment System.
Conversant with the use of Microsoft Office Tools.
Young, dynamic, result-oriented, demonstrating a high level of integrity.

The successful candidate would be expected to execute the following

Prepare audit work programmes for subsequent reviews and approvals.
Carry out audit missions as assigned from time to time.
Prepare and maintain audit working paper documentation in an orderly and systematic manner.
Prepare audit reports upon completion of each audit assignment
Act as the primary contact for auditors.
Contribute to the preparation of audit scope/audit coverage.
Ensure full compliance with the company’s audit methodology.
